Whew, what a day. I packaged and shipped 27 different eBay auctions today and all in all, I’m up about $100 for my efforts: Total Sales was $195.00 yesterday and I spent $36 just on envelopes and another $100 on shipping to get all the stuff out the door. Lesson learned: I offered free shipping in hopes of attracting higher bids, and I don’t think it really helped any, and I’m out the shipping fees. I think in the future, I’ll start charging the shipping. I guess it’s a trade off, but I’m going to try charging for shipping and see how that works out again for me. Most stuff still starts at a buck though still. A lot of it just needs to go. So, I’m probably up about $60 or so for today. Actually, since I paid for shipping out of pocket, but will transfer the proceeds of the sale to the debt, perhaps I am a little ahead. I’ve got $195 that can go to the Mastercard Monster. Kinof a weird way to save, but whatever works..

So, for today’s Sacrifice : I’ve got some Monster 14 Gauge Speaker Cables with bi-wire banana connectors at one end.

Stupid Purchase of the Day.
Today’s stupid purchase was some fancy remote control that was the size of a small cat and cost me $158.00. When I was more interested in home theater and movies, this mattered much more. Now, not so much. The bummer is this remote is now sitting in a drawer in storage (along with my cassette tapes!) and probably still isn’t paid for. As we’ve assessed, that works out to about me paying for it twice. And now it’s got a very small value. Time will tell, it’ll be upload here soon enough. Hobbies. They’re all expensive. And even moreso when you end up charging it.

and of course…

If I had your money

This Harmony Remote control looks pretty nice. If you do have a lot of electronics or hate programming remotes, this one is the way to go. You plug it into your computer and tell it what components you have. The software asks you some questions, and then programs the remote control. It takes a bit of getting used to, but when I had a home theater (and, a home) I was able to push a button and my screen would drop, all the components would come on and even the lights dimmed. It was a great ‘show off’ toy, I have to admit. Now, I’m paying for it…but that’s another story for another day.

After yesterday’s MasterCard news, today so far is thankfully free of expenses. My eBay auctions have gained another $11 in bids, and I managed to make another $1.63 yesterday through ads with this site so that makes for about a $13 day, income wise. The goal is to hit $45/day each and every day to make it to debt freedom in 990 more… (wow, when write it like that it seems SO far away, but when you look back 991 days, it seems like yesterday – the joys of aging I guess.

Today’s Sacrifice
Today I’ve got a 30gb iPod up for auction with a whole bunch of accessories too. I’ve got the iPhone, and my needs for an iPod are rare and random so I’m going to sell this and put the money towards the debt load. If I do need just an ipod again I can pick up a little nano or even a shuffle. I wonder, with the iPhone being pretty much everywhere these days do you need to have both an iPod and and iPhone? I guess it depends on your needs. I like the ‘all in one’ of the iPhone.

Here’s what’s up for grabs today:

It’s an Apple iPod 30 Gb with base, charger, firewire to ipod cables x 2 (one apple, on no name) another cheapo third party ipod cable with both USB and Firewire connectors, plastic stand, and a firewire to mini-firewire adapter. It all starts at a $1, so bid often.

Stupid Purchase of the Day

I a way, this was stupid as I’m still paying interest on it, but in another way, I’d pay probably twice whatever it’s cost me as I use it everyday: Back in August 2003, I bought Transit by Panic Software and it’s been an invaluable tool for both ramseeker.com and other projects, including this one, and many more failed projects so even though I may have been paying for it this might even be considered ‘good debt’ as I’ve used this pretty much every day for six years straight. My Visa Balance back then was $2900, so it could have been the start of my debt slide downhill.. so if that’s the case, then my purchase for $35.90 is now up to $70.86. Still chump change and I use it every day but I can think of much better things to spend $30 and up of interest on . Over time, you’ll see my financial history with credit card spending is just little things like this. And before you know it, you’re up to a $22,000 balance.

and lastly..

If I had your money

I’d buy a little netbook so I could do this from starbucks. Wait, maybe that wouldn’t be a good idea. I’m close to lattes and they’re five bucks a pop, and those little buggers add up. But this little Samsung Netbook seems to be the top seller currently at Amazon. its on sale as I write this at 21% off.
